Roxio is a well known company with a considerable reputation. Roxio's Copy and Convert video converter program, while not the best we've evaluated, it is certainly not the worst. Roxio Copy and Convert is a perfect example of how software doing exactly what it is supposed to do. Roxio supports WMV, AVI with DivX codec, MPEG-2, MOV, VOB (DVD), MP4 and a few more. You can also rip CDs and DVDs (unencrypted). The output selection is similar; however, it does include options for TiVo, HD Windows Media, iPod, PSP and Windows Media Devices like Zen and Archos. Although it's not the most comprehensive selection, it does cover the majority of formats you'd need to convert to. The interface seems to combine audio and video features. Although many of the other products included audio features, this is one of the few products that really emphasized it's audio conversion abilities. You can batch import and convert entire CDs or extract your songs directly from your iPod. The software even includes it's own burning engine allowing you to burn your CDs and DVDs directly from the program. Additional features include the ability to create DVD labels and menus, merge multiple videos into one file and extract audio streams from imported video. One of the most helpful features Roxio Copy and Convert includes is the thumbnail. This is expecially helpful when ripping a DVD directly from your drive. No more guessing if you've uploaded the wrong file. Some difficulties we encountered while using the software includes slow instillation, slower load/conversion time, a lot of memory processing and the inability to encode to MOV (QuickTime) format. Help and support includes an in-program guide, live chat, user forums and email. Telephone support costs $1.89 a minute. Roxio Copy & Convert Screenshots.
